Yep its that time of year again ! I got a Tacx T1435 SIRIUS SOFT GEL TRAINER last year for exactly this purpose. Cracking bit of kit but i would definately recommend getting a wireless computer for it so you can attached the sensor to the rear wheel and see what you are doing. I get bored easily unless i can challenge myself to beat the last time !!
cheers

ok !!! Rich I understands what you mean , is more mental than physical the challenging to be on a stationary bike for 1/2 hours so you train better if you got some objectives to achieve , data to compare , frequency , power etc. etc.
Thanks for these suggestion .

This time of year I switch almost entirely to indoors training due to work commitments, dark mornings/nights etc. I only get out on the bike once a week at w/end assuming the weather's OK.

I use a mix of turbo intervals (my key session is 5mins off/5mins on at TT pace or above; repeat 3 times) to keep fitness up, heavy weights to build strength and running (to keep the weight off).

The change in training keeps me motivated and I can go into 2009 in reasonable shape to build up towards the race season again. Works for me!
