Ive not done time trials, can a beginner like me get involved or is it more for the advanced riders. I would be quite slow at the moment. :(

Hi Julian, I found out about this website through an email sent by Brian Hill. I do miss the triathlon season back in Australia. It starts in November. If I get a chance to go home over the next 6 months I am hoping to do one. Supersprint distances…

Hi Tarsh

Yes, didn't think they looked upto much - have toyed with starting a local Racing club myself off the back of this website aimed at people who are more serious about training/racing. Maybe in the short term, I should start up "Epsom Group" on the site as there's a few of us locals here!

Love the Tri scene in Australia - have done the Perth Olympic Tri and a couple of others in the past. Really like the training ethic and facilities, esp the 50metre pools! Bear in mind that UK Tri's are generally heavily oversubscribed so its worth planning out/booking into 2010 races early...

Definitely recommend doing time trials if you want to improve your tri bike splits - the Epsom Tues Evening races are a key part of my training week - and as you can see from the results, there's a wide range of abilities - all are welcome! Found that through these my biking developed far more than when I was training with other triathletes.

My staple bike training is based around 5min interval sessions on the turbo + time trials and one ride of 1-2hours, generally over Headley and Box Hill at the weekend or the Epsom CC Sunday club run. Hopefully see you around the local roads!

Cheers

JULIAN

Hi Natarsha

Small world - I'm an Epsom CC member too who does a few triathlons (Windsor Tri was my biggest one this year)! When I was more seriously into Tri in the 90's, I was a member of the Kingfisher Triathletes (based in Kingston). There's also a tri club based in Epsom called Z Triathlon Club, but I don't know a lot about them.

No doubt see you on an Epsom Club ride.

Best wishes

JULIAN
